Geoff Jones Memorial Quickplay 2025
White Knights Chess Club rounded off the summer with the Geoff Jones Memorial Quickplay, a five round tournament in honour of our former vice president. Fourteen players took part, with Alan Young finishing top on a perfect 5/5. The event capped off a successful Summer Calendar as we look ahead to the new league season.

White Knights Summer Series – Kicking Off in Style
We kicked off the Summer Series with two very different events. The first brought classic blitz chaos, with players racing against the clock in a knockout format. Two weeks later, Opening Roulette put everyone to the test as each round began with a new randomly drawn opening. From time scrambles to theory traps, the first half of summer delivered on all fronts.

Vismith shares first place at AO Jones Rapidplay 2025
White Knights junior Vismith scored 5/6 to share first place at the 2025 AO Jones Rapidplay, likely becoming the youngest winner in the event’s history. His victories included wins over Ian Jones, Sam Jukes, and Bill Hewitt.

EJ Clarke Tournament 2025 – Tournament Report
The EJ Clarke is West Wales' most distinctive chess tournament — a five-round championship played weekly at rotating venues. This year’s event saw strong performances from White Knights members, dramatic momentum swings, and a final-round clash that delivered fireworks on Board 1. Chris Daniel shares his personal journey through the tournament, culminating in a high-stakes showdown with the title on the line.
